1% families could travel in J even if the tickets were $10k each! I think 1% should be replaced with 10%.

If you're going to be spending $12K on a trip to Europe, maybe spending $20K isn't that much of a stretch for the well heeled. If you have $3m in the bank, does it really matter if you have $3.3m at the end of the year or $3.292m? Or are those folks now traveling private?
The responsible rich don't measure on assets but returns on assets. Assuming a 3% return post-taxes, that's $90k/year, on top of their salaries. So, people with this kind of money won't fly coach at all.

I'm thinking a sweet spot, for us as a family of 4, would be to buy 2 J seats, and 2 Y, then hopefully bank on using SWUs as EXP, having seen first hand how difficult it is to get 4 pax upgraded. I wonder if there are any thoughts from fellow forum members around J travel and pricing these days.
I'd buy miles and redeem regular J awards. Then buy J tickets for the remaining passengers. I don't have experiences dealing with SWUs.
