Hey Steve, not to steal your thread but I am also considering going over to Hawaii so I thought I would chime in and perhaps see what others have to say as well.

First, I believe we can buy 10K points at $100, which would be worth it for me to get the AXON rewards for one of the Hawaiian properties given that I have ~125K points, just short of 145K points needed for 4 night stay. For your case too, you would be able to buy points instantly since you are short 10K points.

I would consider Grand Wailea, although it's been really hard for me to find availability in June through August. I may have to "settle" for other properties, and it would be nice to see what others have enjoyed in Hawaii.
