China Itinerary (PEK-CKG-HKG-?) Advice Requested
Hi all. We are planning a trip in early Spring 2014 to visit my younger brother who is teaching in a town outside of Chongqing. Our current tentative plan is to fly into Beijing and out of Hong Kong or the reverse. We would spend a couple days in each city and then meet up with my brother in Chongqing and then travel with him for ~5-7 days.
We are planning about a 2 week trip. We have young children and limited vacation and are not likely to get back to China anytime soon. I would love to hear any recommendations on "must-see places" that would fit into our allotted travel time.
My husband is a city planner and loves to explore large cities. I am more interested in historic/cultural attractions so we will try to balance both of these interests. We are both avid hikers and the Guilin area looks beautiful but I am not sure if that would be trying to do too much.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations you might have.
