What was your contract with the hotel for? If you didn't have a contract, you really can't go after them later saying what you got was not fair.

Not really sure why there would be a long drawn out battle, they make the point allocation process pretty clear for event planners in the brochure

Event Bonus lets you choose how you earn for your events. Spend at least US $1,000* on eligible charges on your event to qualify and earn either:
1 HHonors bonus point and 1 airline mile per U.S. dollar spent** or
1.5 HHonors bonus points per U.S. dollar spent**

The problem is it's not their policy, so you won't get ten x. You will get what the terms of the program state, or what you negotiated with the hotel before the event.
