I haven't had any problems with my unlabelled bottles in recent years, but had problems at two UK airport in the early days of the war on liquids (I even had someone trying to tell me that these bottles were illegal). I complained to both airports, and it was all plain sailing from then on.

The two airports at which I had problems were LCY and ACI (and yes, I do know that strictly speaking ACI is not in the UK...)
