I think the OP said no booze or food (happy to be corrected if that's not the case). My experience of MH is that they don't serve alcohol while the aircraft is on the ground but there's no problem with other beverages.

I've flown MH mainly in J and occasionally in Y for many years and have to say that I've never had an experience like the OP's. I've always found the FAs to be professional and helpful.
