DL Emails re: Possible Missed Connection; Then Says 35 min layover is "legal"

Got an email earlier today from DL stating that due to a schedule change, that I may miss my connecting flight in ATL. With the schedule change, I have 35 minutes to make my flight from ATL to LAX. So of course I call DL since Delta.dumb won't let me change my ATL-LAX flight to make sure I don't miss my connection. Well don't you just love DL, apparently 35 minutes is considered a "legal connection" meaning no flight change for me.

According to the rep I spoke with, she assumed this was because my inbound flight to ATL would be leaving from the same terminal as my outbound to LAX - although she couldn't be certain.

So here is my question, is this worth calling DL again to get my ATL-LAX outbound changed? I'm just concerned that although DL might consider 35 mins "legal" there is no way 40 days out they can guarantee my flight will arrive at the same terminal as my outbound. Let alone if I have even the slightest delay on my inbound flight to ATL I am screwed making my connection.

Seems absurd to me that DL's own system would flag the potential missed connection and the need to change my ATL-LAX flight but then be told by a rep that the connection is legal and I would not be able to change the flight.

Anyone else experience this?
