I needed two tickets for my parents to travel tomorrow to NYC.. I considered going the bus route but Bolt was all sold out and Megabuses payment processing is down... Amtrak was showing between $250-288 for NE regional trains to NYC.....

I remembered that Amtrak was a transfer partner with Chase UR so I set up a Amtrak Guest rewards account... I then called AGR and asked them about availability for tomorrow and was basically told if there's a seat, then you can book it... 8000 UR points later, I had two tickets to NYC...

so, the train I booked was $250 tomorrow, which I think is an awesome value for 8000 points... (3.125 cents per point)...

I'm still saving for that aspirational FC award on Lufthansa... but right nipping a little bit out here and there this way seems in my mind a good value.. plus that's $250 that my parents get to keep in their wallet...
