A new service (or more accurately speaking method to use miles) from EVA has been rolled out a few days ago, but I haven't seen people discussing about it. I think it's a nice innovation though.
This new feature on evaair.com is called "Miles and Cash," allowing Evergreen members to pay their tickets partially by miles in any amount desired. At the end of booking process, there will be a bar where you can drag how many miles you would like to use to compensate for the travel.
And the highlight of this new feature is that you seem to be able to combine miles from other members if you are travelling together and purchasing the tickets online at the same time. (this I am not 100% sure. Chances are I interpret their policy incorrectly, or I am just being too skeptical due to their fame for not having a generous program

) If it is true that members get to combine miles from different accounts, it will be a major and exciting breakthrough IMHO, as people (at least those within my family

) have long hoping to jointly use family miles and this has not been possible for all carriers in the region (maybe except for NH family plan).
