While AC definitely has a better product -- especially their latest 2 business class -- and the Euro airlines generally have better service, I wouldn't totally discount flying UA if you live in a hub because the business product is very decent and I wouldn't take a layover (if a UA non-stop is available) just to fly a Euro airline or AC in business.
