The flight is not for 3 and 1/2 weeks so should I wait it out a bit, and if so, how long? Is there generally an ideal time in advance of the flight to buy tickets in China, when prices are at their lowest? I know the patterns are not the same as in US and getting closer to flight time can mean decreases rather than increases in the price. Thank you.
I'm by no means an expert, but have a look at which fare bucket it is booking into -- if it is 'Y', then prices are unlikely to rise, but if it is a discounted fare bucket, then the risk of price rises is very real as more tickets sell. Since you have no flexibility, I would go ahead and purchase the ticket -- I presume if the price rises to $400, you would still need to purchase it.
