H fare at 14 days, V at 7? AC loses out.
Well I would have booked an H fare today to Madrid. Unfortunately I can't. Despite being $300+ more than the V fare, I can book the V fare at 7 days out but not the H fare (requires 14 days advance booking).

Can anyone explain this one to me -- ie. what is the logic (not that airfares are ever logical?)

So instead I will redeem points. AC get some revenue I guess but probably would have preferred that I paid for an H fare.
