For a four-hour connection late afternoon/early evening on a Monday, where is shower availability likely to be better, north or south club lounge? We'll be coming off a day of sightseeing before our departure and wouldn't mind freshening up before our long-haul back to HKG. We'll also be exhausted by this point in the trip, so if we can avoid trekking from one end of T5 to the other solely for purposes of lounge-hopping, that would be helpful.
At that time of day, South would be a better bet, there are more showers there and it's better organised. However the HKG flight is almost certainly going to leave from B gates, small risk of C gates, even smaller risk of A. So as soon as you know it is B gate you may want to decant to the B gate lounge which is generally (but not always) quieter than either North or South. You should only go to B gates when the aircraft has definitely been allocated to it, which is typically 75 minutes before departure. If you are entitled to the First lounge or CCR there's no good reason to leave early for B gates.
