With NZ you need 900 Status Points to Reach Gold (*G), and 1500 to reach Gold Elite (*G).

2x return LHR-AKL Business Class trips would give you 1480, so 20 points of reaching Gold Ellie, Which an single AKL-WLG trip would give you the extra 24 status points to reach Gold Elite.
