I think it's a bit odd to try to defend running out of red and fizz half way over the Atlantic in a premium cabin. I certainly wouldn't be happy.
Sorry, but I disagree.
It is not half way across. Second service would indicate about an hour and a half before landing. If you have got people in a cabin happily drinking away for 6 or 7 hours, even with a not full cabin, I think you would be surprised how much you lot can go through, especially if something is nice, such as one or two of the wines on the menu at the moment.
But, as usual, I am wrong. It is impossible to run out of things on a plane, and we can always pop out and get more, as we all know, there is vineyard on one wing and a restaurant on the other...
