Just to clarify again, the stores you mentioned can do this? Or do you mean there are separate kiosk/booths inside K-mart/Target that can sell this kit and activate it for my friend? I.e. does every Target/K-mart/Office-depot sell this service? Or only some of them, and only if my friend searches on the T-mobile website?

Is there a similar package my friend can search for at AT&T? That would double his chance of finding something when he gets into LA.

I'm leaving the country on my own (separate) trip tomorrow...or else I would go to my local mall and ask around.
