Absorbed by my company, but £800 for a one-way non-refundable from ORD to MAD during the ash cloud fiasco.

I had a booking on a BA ORD to LHR (as I had bought a return) but had got stuck for a week and was getting fed up.

My plan was that if the BA flight didn't go due to LHR still being closed, I was going to fly to MAD, take the train to Paris, and I had booked a fully refundable ticket on the EuroStar.

Thankfully LHR had reopened and I was able to take the BA flight.
