Unfortunately yes.
Why would CX "sell" status? Money and attract more customers.
Is it the case? Not really.
(In other word, the only thing that CX seems to be in profit now is the "contract" price selling the status, not customers and fares.)

CX MPC GO benefits is location dependent. For example, this is not offered to AMEX Platinum Cardholders in Hong Kong (I think) and the U.S. So the chance you can keep it depends if the new country offers the same benefits.
You can call ahead to check and see. With a Platinum Card number, the local AMEX will be able to connect you to Platinum Customer Service so you can ask them questions.
