There is so much to do in Amsterdam. Things I remembered and enjoyed, might post more later. The only one I truly suggest you do is the canal boat cruise. You see the buildings and areas of everything worth while in Amsterdam.

* canal boat cruise - great way to see everything you could visit

* Red Light District
+ Walking Tour - Great and fun info tour. Includes tour of the inside.
+ At night before midnight (it can get seedy)

* Dam square - Central area with tons of history and old buildings, similar to Grand Place of Brussels.

* "Main" Museums (You won't be able to do them all, 1-2 at most, unless you speed through museums. I suggest the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum if only for a day)
+ Van Gogh Museum - best Van Gogh Museum in the world. but only VG
+ Rijksmuseum - Dutch Painters with lots of great art, except see above
+ Anne Frank House - Interesting and historical, but not my first choice
+ Stedelijk Museum - Modern art, not my first choice either

* Begijnhof - beautiful area to walk around

* Leidseplein - Great place to get a cup of coffee and sight see.

* Outside Cafe to get a cup of coffee and pastry - Great ones in Amsterdam, but I don't remember any of the names.
