I was one caught in the transition - had the CL booked on points, they gave us back MORE points (3,000/night when we had booked 5 nights at 10,000 total for the upgrade) and in addition gave us $30/day credit to be used for breakfast or whatever. Turned out to be a very sweet deal, but alas, no more lounge.
They've since downgraded breakfast to "continental" in the restaurant. See Westin Times Square thread. Also confirmed with Karina at the hotel.
