To my fellow road warriors,

Due to changing work travel plans, I am due to fly LAX-JFK on 4/12/13 on AA flt 118, which lands at JFK at 3:35. On that same Friday, I have a previously scheduled personal trip to Austin on AA flight 695 leaving JFK at 5:20pm. I honestly don't mind cris-crossing the country all day, since I am trying to stay Platinum this year and need the miles.

My questions is this: is it possible on AA to combine/merge those itineraries into one for baggage purposes? Also will that have any interference on my chances of upgrading on either flight?
