For that reason I directed my communications with the Roma (Rome, Italy) office - who should understand the laws that office operates under.
Being US based I felt it was easiest to accept the 300 euro/person rather than pushing for the full amount and debating EU laws with the LA Office (to whom my claim was sent to for fulfilling with approval from the Roma office). (Plus it seemed reasonable give the delay of four hours and service in BKK upon arrival.)
