For Brussels go to the city center:

* Have a few beers
* Moules with Frites for lunch preferably with a beer (outside if the weather is nice)

There is a tourism office at the Grand Place where there should be maps and tour advice. I would at least take the Grand Place Tour if you don't have a guide book to read from while you are there.
