I have an interesting scenario coming up. I bought (before March 1) a ticket on Delta.com (still to be flown next month).....the trans-atlantic portions are Delta coded on Delta metal....however, there are two internal europe segments...one coded KLM on KLM metal....and the other coded KLM on Transavia metal.
Transavia is described as a low cost airline that is operated independently but part of the Air France-KLM Group (parent company is listed as Air France-KLM).
According to the Delta website, for accrual on KLM coded flights, the following applies -- "Other: Accrual only applies to KL-marketed flights operated by KLM, PrivatAir, City Hopper flights, and KL coded SkyTeam partners"
How do I interpret this for the purpose of the leg on Transavia metal? PrivatAir is an affiliate of Lufthansa; City Hopper is an affiliate of Air France-KLM; but what on earth is meant by "KL coded Sky Team partner"? Specifically, what is a flight "operated" by a "KL coded Sky Team partner"? Does Transavia count? It is a 100% affiliate of KLM.
It seems to me it would be very unjust to not receive MQM/Miles for this leg. The ticket was bought on Delta.com, Delta markets and operates the two inter-continental flights...of the internal europe flights, there was no option to fly Delta coded flights...these are just not flights Delta has....Delta sells them on their own site under KLM codes........the leg in question is coded KLM and operated by a 100% KLM subsidiary. I am hopeful that the quoted language covers this situation (i.e. means i will get credit for this leg); however, who knows? Also, before anybody looks at this and suggests that the Transavia operated flight is a discount flight and may not be eligible for credit because of the discount status; I would say that if you look at the pricing it sure does not look like there is a big discount anywhere in the ticket.
