FWIW, AA may wind up getting them there for you anyway.

A friend of mine was recently on UA (or maybe LH/UA) TXL-EWR-DEN-EUG. When he arrived at DEN, DEN-EUG was CXLD, so he arranged for them to put him on AS going DEN-SEA-EUG. His bags didn't make those flights. In theory, he should have worked with Alaska on the bags, but UA shipped them to the airport the following morning on a DEN-EUG flight.
