It totally depends on what you plan on doing with it. If you can do everything you need to do with it, you will be fine. If you have things you can not do on the ipad, then you have to figure out if you need to do them or not on your trip.

I would also calculate your storage needs for the pictures and make sure you have enough space to store what you plan on storing.

There are a couple of things I could not get to for work on an ipad, they require a pc or mac. So for me, unless I accepted I would not have access to those it would not work, but for anything else it would.
