2013 Cadillac SRX Ride Review/Report

Model: 2013 Cadillac SRX
Class: GXAR
Location: ATL
Mileage when picked up: 281
Mileage when dropped off: 942
Color: Raven Black
Price as tested: $43,600

Features:
-3.6L engine
-17\24 MPG (averaged 19MPG both city and highway)
- Heated steering wheel and seats, 8 way power leather seats
- Ultraview panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, remote start
- Rear view camera, ultrasonic parking sensors, blind spot alert
- CUE Multimedia entertainment, XM radio, HD radio, USB, Bluetooth, and SD slot, 8 speaker Bose system
- Rain sense wipers, HID headlights, Power liftgate with adjustable height

Pros:
- CUE is awesome. One of the best media interfaces I've used.
- Quiet ride. Hardly any road noise in the cabin.
- Heated steering wheel helped out on a couple of cold mornings.

Cons:
- Gas mileage could've been better.
- No improvement in braking over last years model.
- Bose subwoofer seemed like it had to warm up before any bass would be produced.
- Remote start worked when it wanted to.

Overall:

I must say that the CUE system more than made up for some of the shortcomings. Most of the GM systems have trouble playing music from my iPhone streaming apps, but not CUE. The apps played perfectly and gave me so much control over the iPhone, that I was able to just stash it in the center console. The seats were very comfortable as well. After the subwoofer "warmed-up", the sound was quite pleasant, though it still doesn't come close to the Sony HD audio. The parking sensors also worked well with no false alerts like some of the other rentals I had.

The braking though is still a problem. Took me two days to figure out the pressure point that actually engages the brake so I could just slow down a bit instead slowing down considerably.

All in all, I enjoyed the SRX and would recommend it especially on long highway trips.
