Normally SQ is quite good sticking to seat assignments. either it was a glitch on their ohh so great new system / website or it could be for pilot rest. Most of the time I have seen this seat used for deadheading pilots that were being repositioned. YMMV. See what happens, I understand the seat preference, but it is not quite as dramatic as being bumped out of an aisle seat into a middle seat in Y .
