For those of you who are "jumping ship", let me share my experience with Marriott, last week.
Hotel in Nashville, internet SUCKED (wired and wifi) but I did opt to pay the $6.99 upcharge for "premium internet service" which also SUCKED. It was so bad I called and had them remove the charge. When I was looking at my bill this morning as I was doing expenses, it was still there after they assured me it was removed. The number to call for billing questions is closed on Sunday.
I checked out on Wednesday, still no points, no receipt available on line and when I called for assistance, no one there, I got a recording that hung up on me.
I did the on line assist chat and that also went no where.
It was enough for me. Years ago, I was a Marriott guy and since changing to Hilton, I have not looked back, this experience validated my decision.
