Depending on how you count it, there's either 4 or 5 terminals at SFO.
Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are generally considered "domestic" terminals. Each are distinct terminals, with their own check-in, security, etc
The International Terminal has a single check-in area, but then splits out to two non-connected "piers" of gates - Pier A and Pier G, and is generally considered an "international" terminal. (Piers B through F are in the domestic terminals, but they are rarely referred to by those names).
Terminal 3 and the International G pier are connected by walk-ways air-side, the others are not. United runs an air-side shuttle from Terminal 1 to Terminals 3 and International G.
Despite the designations, domestic flights do fly from the International terminal (all Sun Country, WestJet, and JetBlue, and some United domestic). Some international flights also leave from the "Domestic" terminals, such as Delta international flights from terminal 1, but the majority are from the International terminal.
Singapore Airlines flights always leave from International G.
