Due to last minute operational reasons an aircraft change has been made on BA175 LHR-JFK and BA112 JFK-LHR, departing between Saturday 16 and Wednesday 20 March 2013.
These flights will now be operated by a leased Titan Airways' B767, with a single economy cabin.
A World Traveller in-flight service will be offered, but no personal seat-back video screen is installed on these aircraft. The in-flight movie will be shown from drop-down screens located around the cabin. In addition, no High Life in-flight retail will be available.
For customers travelling on these flights the following guidelines are available
Advice for agents
Customers travelling in F and J cabins, as well as any Golds, are being called-out where possible
F, J and WT+ customers travelling on 18, 19 or 20 March are now having their booking downgraded to Y cabin, notification will be sent advising them to contact BA
Any F, J and WT+ customer may change to an alternative flight or refund, see non-standard guidelines above
Any F, J and WT+ customer who has not had their ticket reissued either into WT or onto an alternative flight will not be able to check-in online
All customers travelling in World Traveller will not have their booking changed but, if requested, they may apply for a full refund
Speaking of Y bookings, how can BA get away with switching operating carrier without leaving the option to the customer to switch back to one of the plentiful flights operated by the carrier he/she purchased a ticket on?
I see that BA will refund the ticket (how magnanimous!), but try using the refund amount to buy a ticket on a BA-operated flight on the same route with 0-4 days advance purchase!
This seems rather dodgy. While ZT is probably a perfectly fine charter airline, BA is not giving the choice to Y customers and that's quite worrisome in principle.
I choose to fly BA, and then they put me on any other carrier of their choosing without giving me any option (let alone seek permission)? Isn't EU law a bit more citizen friendly than that?
