Completely agree with your point. Firing someone does not improve the operational process or culture at UA. I never understand why people think that firing someone for a mistake is reasonable. (Now a documented string of mistakes by one individual is another matter.)
Refund makes sense. And since UA does allow cellos to accrue miles, shouldn't Hendrix get a MP account with credit for actual miles flown? (Yes I know the dog wasn't actually in a seat.)
