Two totally different situations - favoring a hot girl over an EXP disadvantages the EXP. Not making an EXP wait till the last minute for a Y boarding pass that they are obviously going to get anyway disadvantages no-one (except the person who wanted to use your overhead bin space while you are sitting waiting at the podium). I personally feel that rules/laws applied with discretion rather than literal interpretation where there is no crime/no foul is the best way. I would be more likely to be upset as an EXP if the GA made me wait till the last minute for my standby to be cleared when it was obvious long before that it would clear.
