Flight ends up being cancelled due to mechanical reasons. I go to the AC to be rebooked. Since I was a standby, all they could do was give me my seat back on my original flight, rather than rebook me onto alternate routes like they were the other pax.
At least you got your original ticket back. It's my thinking that when you get a confirmed BP on another flight, you give up your seat. You may or may not be able to get back on that flight if they've already filled your seat.
Are you saying they held your seat for the rare case that the flight you went on earlier canceled? I'm surprised by that.
