I agree with this. I certainly understand that if you check in before the hotel's official check in time, that the room type guarantee doesn't apply. But I would expect that if I check in at or after the hotel's official check in time, I'm guaranteed a king bed (if that's what I asked for). Otherwise, they could say "we can have one ready for you at 4 AM tomorrow," and technically not be violating the guarantee.
