That was the right assumption. One of the duty free places had a bar setup with the bartender pouring vodka shots in the mid morning. I loved that!

There are plenty of airports with no liquid restrictions for some or all flights. Domestic flights in Australia and Japan do not have the restrictions, for example. No need to be rude to people.
