Yes, that is what I thought. I read in the paper while visiting there that the government sees an A380 as a backdoor approach to increasing capacity and taking business away from India-based airlines. Never figured out the logic. But that was a year ago.
First they said the airports cannot handle the A380. But, as I understand, DEL was upgraded since then and looks like BOM is also being redone. I think even HYD saw a landing when one of the airlines (either Quantas or EK) had a problem.
Off thread but some Aussies like me cringe at seeing Quantas.

Mary Quant by all means but please no 'U' in our national carrier. I prefer travelling EK than QF but I'm a bit of a pedant as you will see.
A common quiz question is what is the world's oldest airline? KLM just beat Qantas to the title FWIW.
We had our first A380 experience recently (DXB-MEL-DXB) and found J class on it a bit more like Y class. Doing away with F and expanding J will I think put it more in the cattle direction. We found the J class experience on the 777-300 ER (GLA-DXB-GLA) to be a lot better but appreciate the bean counters at EK prefer A380 revenues.
