Here is the resolution: got the earlier flight that departs from HKG 18 hours ahead, 19 hours layover in Doha, and free Doha stopover program (hotel + transportation to/from hotel +entry visa). However, won't hold my breath on it until I see the official paperwork. (And I do expect to have access to the hotel room from 0600 to 2300. )
