Changing res, keeping car?
Related to my last post (I managed to get my car swapped for something I like much better), I'm hoping for some more wisdom from the Hertz gurus around here...
I originally made a reservation for about two weeks, while my car was in the shop. It turns out that I'm going to need the car for closer to six weeks (long story). I called up, and from talking to the person on the phone, it would have been MUCH more expensive to just extend the reservation than to end it early and start a brand new one, which would give me most of the time at a monthly rate. So I did that, and am ending one contract and starting the new one next week.
I'm wondering, will it be possible for me to convince them to let me just keep the same car? I really like the car (for a rental), and don't really want to roll the dice on another. It's an HLE location, so I imagine otherwise all they're going to do is inspect it, clean it, and give it to someone else an hour later, right? So it seems like it's actually advantageous to them to let me keep it (save the time on cleaning). The car belongs to the class I'm paying for, so it's not as if they're extending an upgrade or anything.
Any thoughts? Is there something they won't like about this request? I'm just trying to understand how they'll see it, so I know how to phrase it and make it attractive to them...
Thank you all.
