One more question if you can - I am going over next February and have 6 days booked at CR, with 3 days over. Assuming I have plenty of points for both, would you just stay longer at the CR or spend 3 days at the PH as well. I know the extra transfer is about $1k per person, however, I found that seeing the different islands in French Polynesia was fascinating.

Tough call. If you are sure you wouldn't be coming back I might consider it. Otherwise, I would just plan separate trips. If you haven't been to the Maldives before my guess is you will be returning anyway.
I am pretty sure you will have to go all the way back to Male and lose a half a day of your vacation but you may be able to take the domestic flight option from the CR Maldives to save time.
