I cannot comment on specifics as I have only stayed at the Hilton BB, but that's how I had it described to me while I was there.
In my opinion, your 2 sources were quite inaccurate.
First, there are 2 InterContinental hotels.
Second: Yes, the Four Seasons and the St Regis belong to the first tier, but not Le Meridien. The third hotel in that tier is the IC Thalasso.
Third: Le Meridien belongs to the second tier, probably along the IC Moana and Hilton BB Nui. I can't comment on the 2 Sofitel properties or others.
