And this is the question, I've been having the whole time while reading the entire thread hoping it would get answered somewhere along the way. I believe if the OP had chosen to fly with her husband in the 2 available seats and the third person would have taken the other flight, this whole scenario would have been avoided.

Yes, I have empathy to the OP for what she experienced (and I am a Mom so I know what it feels like to be pregnant), however I do agree with most posters that it was over-dramatized and that compensation shouldn't be based on the fact that she was pregnant, only on the actual fact that they were bumped.
