United has gotten really bad with their mailings lately. They're up to 2-3 per day, and they're pretty much never anything I want. Of course, when the spam gets too high, people just delete without reading them. They could strike a balance of less e-mail or more carefully targeted.
On a side note, many of these credit-monitoring services (I don't know about LifeLock in particular) can be nigh impossible to cancel once started, or at least require a phone call rather than an online cancellation.
An additional heads-up with Lifelock is that it attempts to place "fraud alert" on your account with all 3 credit agencies. This can make attempting to get credit much more difficult.
