Who is defending BA? I think that the terms of the QFF scheme enable QF to get away with the 19 days notice but I wouldn't call it a defence of BA
The removal of the 1st class lounge was at least in part Qantas's doing ( if not all ) but changes in aeroplane are BA's ; the only thing I would say is that the business class seats are the same regardless of the aeroplane
