Just wanted to share a good (all things considered) experience.

DL3 went mechanical last night -- apparently they lost water pressure while on the ground...this would've been find except that you need water to flush... enough said.

This was discovered while the jet bridge was still attached, so after keeping us on board for an hour and providing reasonably frequent updates, DL decided to allow pax to deplane if they wanted to! (never seen that before) The announcement mentioned food vouchers as well, though I stayed on board so can't comment. Another 80 minutes later people came on board, and after a few more delays (looking for a passenger), 20-30 minutes later we were (finally) on our way.

We ended up being a good 3.5 hours late into LHR but they compensated with a $50 cert. Though I probably would have preferred some miles, this is still a nice gesture, and nice of them to give it without being asked.
