Posto 6 is an excellent suggestion. I second the great idea from C010T3.

On the beach side, it is named for the Lifeguard station there, or Post Nr. 6.

I spent a number of months there in the '70's with another physician, working on a UN study for pollution control at the local beaches. It was " raw " or very bad back then, especially on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as effective pre-treatment systems were not as they should be for such a a world-class tourist location.

Fortunately we were successful with our report, and able to obtain funding ultimately for Riol. The water is quite clean today, compared to back then.

Post 6, as a location is also quite safe for visitors. Back then the Lifeguards were part of the police department: Today they are part of the fire department, and at Posto 6, a physician is on duty during the day. A good operation today with fine, dedicated people, just as it was then.

On the opposite side of the street you have numerous hotels and many restaurants to enjoy. I enjoy a good Bacalhao anytime with friends, but might suggest the local filet Oswaldo Aranha style for lunch or dinner at any of the restaurants nearby.
