Bumping this old thread- couldn't find a more recent one (if there is one, a link would be appreciated!)

Wanted to add my recent experience

I'm in Pittsburgh every month for work and never gave this property a shot. I usually stay with Hilton properties, but wanted to be close to the Robinson.. whatever its called area to stop at a bookstore nearby. I was staying during a weekend, so knew the CL would be closed but didn't mind. The weekend rate was very low, close to what I wanted to be near, was a match made in heaven. I arrived around 9pm, dropped my luggage off and went down to the restaurant. The bartender was fantastic, very friendly guy, had a wonderful time chatting with him. A bit off topic, but the night before I was hit by a car while crossing a street in Ohio, spent the majority of the day in the ER at OSU hospital. My face was pretty mangled, and I was in a lot of pain, very irritable. I had a few drinks and dinner, a good night sleep, woke up comfortable and refreshed. Then, the problems.

The shower was absolutely miserable. For some reason, the water temperature kept fluctuating from freezing to scalding hot. I was already on a tight schedule and didn't have time to request a switch to another room, so I just sucked it up and tried to bare it. In the end, I had to "throw in the towel" and gave up. I spent the remainder of the day feeling itchy and disgusting from not being able to rinse off soap residue, it may sound petty, but it really ruined my trip. I actually ended up in Lancaster that evening and was in such a foul mood I cancelled a few meetings and decided to head home. This was the first time I complained to Marriott about a stay.

I heard back very promptly, the person who contacted me was very apologetic, reimbursed me, and offered promised a suite upgrade for my next stay. To be honest, I didn't seek any reimbursement, I was just upset about the experience, wanted to vent, and hoped the issue would be looked into. The prompt, professional, and courteous response won me over. I will definitely give this property another shot. Aside from the water temp issue, the property and staff was aces.

For a little more info on the property, the surrounding area is full of dining and entertainment options. The restaurant within is fantastic, typical Marriott fare but done very well. Cannot comment on the lounge, as I stayed on a weekend and it was closed. Beyond that, they hit every preference I have on my account (high floor, extra foam pillow). Ample free self parking, easy highway access.

I hope this review doesn't make me sound like some kind of weirdo. But hey, thought I would share my 2 cents.
