Well, it sounds like you were told exactly what a Diamond is supposed to get. The upgrade is not a guarantee. They did fall down on the water, though. 24 hour valet is a Waldorf brand standard, so they blew that one. The safe thing - they don't know it's broken until someone tells them it's broken. So, the last people probably didn't say anything. They can't do much about the crowded beach unless it's a private beach. As far as the pool goes, I've been to other high end hotels where the pool is like the daycare center, also (Waldorf Astoria Park City, Prince Hapuna Beach, the old Westin Rio Mar (now a Wyndam)...
