This is the first time I’ve done a ride review, so I hope everyone finds this helpful.
I was lucky enough to land this 2013 Lincoln MKT at the ATL airport location after returning an Explorer that was having some major issue with the electronics (the ATL staff and management do an excellent job with customer service!). I was curious to see what improvements were made from last MY. I wasn't disappointed.
This is the base model of the MKT, no EcoBoost

. It had 2,189 miles on it with Tennessee tags. It’s classified as a Premium Crossover (PGAR). EPA is 17mpg city/ 25mpg hwy. I averaged 23.3mpg during my rental.
Pros:
-Comfortable and smooth ride.
-MyLincoln Touch worked flawlessly with my iPhone! (which is a first!)
-Better power and handling than last year’s MKT.
-Better fuel economy. I averaged 23.3mpg compared to 20mpg averaged driving last years model.
-Plenty of leg room on the second row.
-Seats are much more comfortable than last year’s model.
-Pull up sunshades on the second row windows. Perfect for kids with tablets
Cons:
-Forget about putting anyone over the age of 10 in the 3rd row.
-No EcoBoost.
-Basic sound system with basic sound.
-Automatic high beams kept popping on even in well-lit areas.
-Rear visibility hampered when the 3rd row is being used
Final Verdict:
This is definitely my favorite people mover and is great for long trips. Everyone in the first 2 rows sit in comfort. I was surprised at how agile it felt. It handled some pretty big curves and without giving that SUV lean feeling. I was also surprised at how well MyLincoln Touch worked with my iPhone. Most of the MyFord systems I’ve encountered require to me perform multiple steps to get some of my music apps to work over USB. This one was plug and play. I wish that it came with THX system that the MKX has, because the sound quality was average.
I would choose this one over Explorer, Acadia, and especially the Journey.
