I have shipped posters and other presentation materials for conferences because it is such a pain to lug around such awkward containers. I have had mixed results shipping things to hotels. I always call ahead and find out if there are specific arrangements (a business center, a post box, does it go to the concierge or main desk) and I always get delivery confirmation, but I have had a couple hairy moments . A few times it has cost me hours going back and forth (delivery co insisting it was delivered, hotel not) and eventually we found the things. Once it was truly lost and I was running around trying to find someplace to print a poster at the last minute. Most of the times whatever I shipped did get there, but I wouldn't say it was hassle free or cheaper.
